Over the years, snow, ice, ants and woodpeckers had taken their toll on the decks of Homes 17 and 18 and the support logs had begun to deteriorate. The existing decking was also worn out and flaking due to a manufacturing defect. While these decks are part of Hearthstone’s extended Capital Reserve study and not scheduled for total replacement for several more years, concerns of the decks safety and appearance prompted immediate replacement. Last fall Hearthstone had a professional contractor replace the entire deck which included setting new log posts and deck joists and installing a new composite decking surface creating a sounder structure for the next 15-20 years. The new decks, log posts and privacy wall look fantastic and we look forward to staining the logs to match the home when warmer temperatures return later this spring.
