Road safety improvements to Idaho State Hwy-55 between Smiths Ferry and the Rainbow Bridge (mileposts 98 and 99) have resumed for the season. This section of highway is approximately 45 miles (52 minutes) south of Hearthstone in McCall.
Valley County Commissioners have also ordered the closure of Smith’s Ferry Drive at Packer John Rd. and Round Valley Rd. This closure is in effect along with the expected construction work schedules posted by ITD.
What to Expect:
Spring (March – May)
– One-way alternating traffic, controlled by temporary signal
– Daytime and nighttime work, 24/7
– Full road closures Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Summer (June – Aug.)
– One-way alternating traffic, controlled by flaggers
– Daytime and nighttime work, Monday – Friday morning
Fall (Sept. – Nov.)
– Construction starts Sept. 8
– One-way alternating traffic, controlled by temporary signal
– Daytime and nighttime work, 24/7
– Full road closures Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Winter (Nov. – Feb.)
– No construction is expected over the winter months
– All lanes open
